There are some sessions that feel extra meaningful, and this one was definitely one of them. I’ve had the joy of photographing this family for a few years now, and when they reached out about doing a special mini session with the kids and their grandmother, I knew it was going to be something beautiful to capture.
Family photos are always important, but when they include grandparents, they take on an even deeper meaning. These are the moments kids will look back on years from now—the photos that will remind them of how loved they’ve always been.
We met in Mocksville, NC, on a warm summer evening. The light was soft, the grass was lush, and the setting was perfect for documenting this bond. From the start, the kids were full of giggles and energy, and their grandmother had the warmest smile watching them snuggle in close.
There’s something timeless about photographing grandparents with their grandchildren. The images show love that spans generations—a love that is steady, patient, and enduring. Whether it was the kids sitting on a blanket with her or simply wrapping their arms around each other, each shot told a piece of their family story.
It’s easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, but photos like these remind us why it’s worth pausing and documenting. Grandparents play such an important role in our lives, and having these moments frozen in time is something that will only grow more meaningful as the years go on.
This session was short and sweet—perfect for the kids’ attention spans—but the memories captured will last a lifetime.
The way Grandma beamed with pride as she sat surrounded by her grandkids.
The playful sibling moments between the two little ones, showing just how close they are.
The soft, relaxed vibe of the blanket shots under the big oak tree—classic, timeless, and natural.
Every session is special, but this one was a beautiful reminder that photography isn’t just about the present—it’s about creating heirlooms for the future. These photos will be looked at and cherished for years to come, and I feel so honored to have been able to capture them.
If you’ve been thinking about scheduling a family session, consider including grandparents. These are the moments worth holding on to.
