Your headshot is often your first introduction.
Before someone calls you, walks into your office or schedules an appointment, there’s a good chance they’ve already seen your face on your website, social media or business profile.
So here’s a simple question:
Does your headshot still look like you?
I’m not talking about whether you’ve aged a little. We all have. Your headshot doesn’t need to have been taken yesterday.
But if someone meets you in person and your headshot feels like it represents a completely different version of you, it might be time for an update.
Your appearance has changed.
Maybe you’ve changed your hair, started wearing glasses, grown a beard or simply look different than you did several years ago. You want clients to recognize you when they meet you.
Your business has changed.
Maybe you’ve changed careers, started your own business, stepped into a new position or your brand has evolved. The headshot that worked five years ago might not fit where your business is today.
Your photo looks dated.
Sometimes it isn’t YOU that makes a headshot look old—it’s the photography. The background, lighting, editing or overall style can make an image feel dated even when you haven't changed much.
You're cropping yourself out of another photo.
I see this one all the time. If your current professional headshot is actually a cropped photo from a wedding, vacation or family photo, it’s probably time. 😂
A professional headshot doesn't have to feel stiff, overly posed or corporate.
My goal when photographing business owners and professionals is pretty simple: I want you to look approachable, confident and like yourself.
Because when someone sees your photo online and then meets you in person, I want their first thought to be:
“Yep. That’s them.”
If you had to stop and think about how old your current headshot is—or whether it still looks like you—it might be time for a new one.
