One of my favorite things about being a photographer is how life has a way of bringing people back into your path. This session is the perfect example of that. I went to high school with this mom — not the same grade, and we didn’t really know each other personally — but she was friends with someone I did go to high school with, and I’ve photographed that family multiple times over the years.
She moved out of the area, started a beautiful life with her family, and then this fall she reached out and said she was hoping to get updated family photos. And just like that, our paths crossed again — this time in the most special way.
They decided to come back to her childhood hometown for the session, and I loved that I got to be the one to capture these memories in a place that was meaningful to her. We chose a rustic outdoor location in Mocksville, NC, and the fall colors were showing off — warm golden light, crunchy leaves, and that cozy autumn glow we all dream of.
The kids were so sweet and easygoing, and you could instantly feel how close this family is. The hugs, the giggles, the way the kids looked at their mom and dad — all of it made the session flow so naturally. It was one of those days where you leave thinking, This is why I love what I do.
I’m so grateful our paths crossed again after all these years, and I’m even more grateful that I got to document this season of life for them.
