Senior sessions are one of my favorite types of shoots. There's something special about capturing a moment that celebrates who someone is right now, on the brink of big life changes. But sometimes, the weather or light doesn’t always cooperate the way we wish it would—and that’s where the magic of editing really steps in.
Take this photo, for example. This beautiful senior showed up looking radiant and ready to capture some memorable shots in a quiet, grassy field in Mocksville, NC. The only thing missing? A little bit of light and drama in the sky to match her glow.
In the original image, the natural beauty is there—soft greenery, tall grasses, and of course, this stunning senior. But the sky was flat and gray, lacking dimension. The lighting was neutral, which worked okay, but didn’t quite match the vibrant, confident energy of the moment.
With a little editing, this image transformed into something straight out of a magazine. I brought in some warm sunlight to give the photo a golden-hour vibe and added depth and color to the sky for a dreamy, ethereal feel. The field itself now glows with a golden warmth, giving the image a polished, storytelling feel that feels intentional and elevated.
The result? A portrait that captures the beauty, strength, and quiet confidence of this senior—and feels as special as the season she’s in.
Editing isn’t about changing who someone is—it’s about elevating the moment to reflect the feeling behind it. I want my seniors to look at their photos and see themselves not just as they are, but as they feel: bold, beautiful, and ready for what’s next.
