This week has been a whirlwind of back-to-school chaos, photos going out, and football season kicking into high gear. Band photos were delivered, and it’s been so fun seeing families share and enjoy their images. On top of that, we managed to squeeze in three football games—JV under the lights, Friday night football, and Maxden’s youth game.
But the moment that stood out to me most wasn’t about the schedule, the photos, or even the retreat I kicked off last Sunday. It was about choosing family first.
When Maxden’s game got rescheduled to Sunday afternoon—just hours after my retreat began—I knew I couldn’t miss it. I was able to get the retreat started, and when the ladies naturally hit a pause for rest and connection, I slipped out to the game. I came back right after dinner, ready to jump back in. It wasn’t ideal to leave in the middle of an event, but missing my son’s first football game was not an option.
I’m so thankful for the people in my life who know my heart and intentions. They understand that perfection isn’t the goal, and that sometimes things go off-plan. I’m also grateful for the flexibility of owning my business—having the freedom to choose where I need to be and when, and to put my family first without asking permission.
This week reminded me: life isn’t about getting it all perfectly balanced. It’s about knowing what matters most, and being brave enough to make choices that reflect it.
