This week started off with an early Memorial Day getaway to the beach with my friend Sara-Anne. My sweet husband woke up before the sun to drive me to Gibsonville (where she lives)—a two-hour round trip—and I’m so grateful he did that for me.
Tuesday and Wednesday were full of fun and creativity: we lounged on the beach, photographed headshots and content for each other, did some shopping, grabbed cinnamon rolls one morning, and (I’m pretty sure) had ice cream every single night. It was such a refreshing and joy-filled time.
By Thursday, I was home and feeling it. Between the sunburn and beach exhaustion, I needed to slow down. I met with my content writer that afternoon, but the rest of the day was all about rest and reset.
Friday brought some much-needed routine. I finally made it back to the gym, and then joined Maxden at his end-of-year school party. We wrapped up the day with a sweet treat from Maddie Cakes.
Saturday, I took on a sentimental project that’s been on my list forever—creating a photo album for each of my boys to gift them when they graduate high school. I started organizing prints I already have and sorting through years of digital images to start printing favorites. I only finished Year 1 for my oldest, but it’s a start. With two years until his graduation (and just one more for my second son), I’m determined to get them done.
Sunday, we kicked off the day with some much-needed house cleaning—no one was thrilled, but it had to happen! Then we headed to Stone Mountain for the afternoon. It was a little overcast, the water was cold, but it felt so good to be outside together. On the way home, we stopped at a little restaurant we always pass but never catch open—and finally got to try their ice cream!
It was a week of sunshine, slow moments, meaningful work, and memory-making—just the kind I hope to have more of this summer.
