Last week was one of those beautifully full weeks that remind me why I love the mix of work, family, and adventure that this business brings into my life.
Monday started off with a bit of a curveball. My son and I were all set to tour UNC Chapel Hill, but after some major flooding in the area the night before, we made the decision to postpone. While we were both a little disappointed, I was thankful we could stay safe and flexible.
That evening, I visited the sunflower field in Mocksville, NC to scout it out for upcoming shoots—and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The blooms were just beginning to open, and I started to envision the magic that was going to happen there over the weekend.
Wednesday morning brought a fun headshot session with East Davie Animal Hospital.
That evening, I went back to the sunflower field—this time to create a little path through the flowers so that it would be photo-session ready for the weekend. There’s something so satisfying about preparing a space where families and clients will soon make special memories.
Thursday through Saturday, I slipped away to the beach. We stayed at the cutest Airbnb in Shallotte, NC and spent time exploring both Holden Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. It was exactly what I needed—a dose of sunshine, salty air, and a little space to breathe. (And of course, a few iced coffees and coastal photo ops, because you know I can’t help myself.)
Sunday wrapped things up perfectly with three sunflower mini sessions back in Mocksville. The field looked gorgeous, the light was dreamy, and the families brought so much joy to their sessions.
All in all, this week felt like a blend of everything I love—family time, meaningful client work, nature, and a little reset by the sea.
