There’s something special about photographing a family I’ve known for years. I’ve watched these four grow and change, and every time we meet, it feels like catching up with old friends—plus a little bit of magic as the camera comes out.
For this end-of-summer mini session in Mocksville, NC, we kept things simple and relaxed. The late-day light filtered through the trees, the grass was still that rich summer green, and the setting gave us a soft, natural backdrop that let their connection shine.
Easy, happy energy. These kids always bring the best smiles—natural, unforced, and full of personality. Their sibling banter made for some of my favorite frames of the day.
Timeless color palette. Coral, white, navy, and soft blue stripes looked beautiful against the greenery and added a pop of warmth without feeling too “matchy.”
A mix of posed + candid. We grabbed classic family portraits (the mantle-worthy kind!), then moved into relaxed moments—laughing, chatting, and soaking up the summer evening.
Don’t forget the parents. I always make time for a quick couple portrait. Years from now, these two will be so glad they have an image that’s just the two of them.
Mini sessions are perfect when you want updated family photos without the stress. In just 10–15 minutes, we can capture a variety of images: the full family, each child, siblings together, and a quick moment for parents. They’re quick, affordable, and easy to fit into a busy season—especially as we head into fall routines.
If it’s been a while (or the kids have grown three inches since spring!), a Mocksville or Clemmons mini session is an easy way to refresh your gallery. I’ll guide you through outfits, location, and timing so you can simply show up and enjoy.
