Some families become more than clients over the years — they become part of the story of my business. And this sweet family is definitely one of them. I’ve been photographing them since at least 2014, and it has been such an honor to watch their family grow, change, and enter new seasons of life while still showing up each year to document who they are in that moment.
This year looked a little different, in the very best way. Their oldest daughter is now in college, yet they still made the time to gather together for a quick mini session here in Mocksville, NC. Schedules get busier, life gets fuller, and it would be so easy to skip family pictures — but they never do. They make it a priority, and that makes my heart so full.
We met on a peaceful fall evening at a rustic barn setting just as the sun dipped into the trees behind us. The light was golden, the air was crisp, and the session was relaxed and effortless — the perfect recipe for genuine smiles and natural moments. Everyone showed up with their warm, cozy fall outfits, and the color palette was chef’s kiss — soft greens, cream, denim, and pops of blue that complimented the autumn backdrop beautifully.
Between individual portraits of the girls, a mix of group combinations, and of course the classic whole-family shot, every photo from this session feels like a little snapshot in time. The kids grow, their personalities evolve, seasons change… but one thing stays the same — the love they share and the way they show up for each other.
This is why family photos matter. They don’t freeze time — but they give us something to hold onto through every season. One day, this collection will be a chapter in their story. A reminder of who they were in 2024… before another year passes and another season begins.
To this family — thank you for trusting me year after year. Photographing you is always such a joy, and I am so grateful to play a tiny part in your legacy.
If you’d like to book your own family session in Mocksville, Clemmons, or Winston-Salem, I’d love to photograph you too.
