One of the most common questions I get from clients is:
“Where should we take our photos?”
And honestly, it’s a great question.
Location plays a huge role in how your images feel. The right setting can make photos look natural, relaxed, and timeless — while also helping everyone feel more comfortable during the session.
After photographing families, seniors, and business owners across Davie County and the Triad for many years, I’ve narrowed down some of my favorite photo locations in Mocksville, Clemmons, and Winston Salem, North Carolina.
These spots photograph beautifully in different seasons and work well for a variety of session types.
Tanglewood Park is one of the most popular and versatile photo locations in the area, and for good reason.
It offers:
Open fields with beautiful light
Tree-lined paths
Scenic bridges
Seasonal color year-round
This location works especially well for:
Branding sessions that need a clean outdoor look
Because Tanglewood has so much variety, we can often get multiple “looks” without walking far — which is a big plus for families with kids.
Downtown Mocksville is a great option if you love photos that feel classic, charming, and a little more personal.
This area features:
Brick textures and historic details
Quiet streets with character
A small-town feel that never feels overdone
This location works beautifully for:
Seniors who want something simple and timeless
Branding sessions for small business owners
Families who prefer an understated background
It’s especially lovely in the fall and early spring.
Some of my favorite images happen in the simplest locations.
Open fields, tree lines, and quieter nature areas around Davie County create:
Soft light
Natural movement
A relaxed environment for kids
These spots are perfect for:
Young families
Clients who want a more organic look
Sessions where comfort matters more than a “named” location
I often choose these locations based on the season and light conditions leading up to your session.
For clients looking for something a bit more refined, areas around Reynolda and parts of Winston Salem offer a beautiful mix of:
Architectural elements
Manicured outdoor spaces
Natural backdrops
These locations work well for:
Senior photos
Branding sessions
Families wanting a slightly elevated feel
They photograph especially well in spring and fall.
You don’t need to have the location figured out when you book — that’s part of my job.
Before your session, I consider:
The type of session you’re booking
The season and current scenery
Your clothing colors
How comfortable everyone needs to feel
Once I see how everything is lining up, I’ll recommend the best location for your session — not just what’s popular.
If you’re looking for a photographer in Mocksville, Clemmons, or Winston Salem NC, I’d love to help you plan a session that feels relaxed, meaningful, and true to you.
And if you’re not quite ready yet, keep an eye on upcoming blog posts where I share what to expect, how to prepare, and how to choose the right session type.
