One of my favorite things about family sessions is when clients decide to bring their dogs along. I know it can feel a little stressful at first — I hear it all the time: “What if our dog doesn’t behave?” or “We don’t want to waste our mini session if he’s too excited!”
But my advice? Bring the dog!
Dogs are part of the family, and they add so much personality, fun, and laughter to your photos. This sweet family brought along their pup, and he completely stole the show. (That happy tongue and big smile say it all!) Even when dogs are wiggly or distracted, I always manage to capture at least one perfect shot — and usually many more than that.
If things get a little too energetic, we can always take a few quick photos with your dog first, then let them hang out nearby while we finish your family portraits. Either way, it’s always worth including them — because they’re part of your story, too.
These fall mini sessions are some of my favorites every year — the golden light, cozy colors, and families like this one remind me exactly why I love what I do.
So if you’re thinking about booking a family session and wondering whether to bring your dog, my answer is simple:
👉 Do it! You’ll be so glad you did.
