As a photographer, what I capture in-camera is only part of the story. The magic really comes together during the editing process—and this side-by-side before-and-after shows you exactly why that post-processing work matters.
Let’s break it down 👇
This photo was taken during a baseball-themed session, and I absolutely loved the natural moment of this young player smiling in the dugout. The lighting was soft, the pose was relaxed, and the setting told a great story. But like many images taken outdoors, there’s always room to elevate it with a thoughtful edit.
The lighting was a little flat and neutral.
The tones were slightly cool and lacked warmth.
Some of the detail and vibrancy in the glove, jersey, and surrounding scene weren’t as strong as I knew they could be.
The shadows and background felt a little dull, and the image didn’t pop the way I wanted.
I added warmth and richness to the tones to give it that golden, inviting feel.
I boosted the contrast and enhanced the natural colors to make the red and navy jersey stand out.
Shadows were softened slightly, and highlights brought forward for a balanced exposure.
I sharpened details in the glove and face to draw the viewer’s eye right to the subject.
The overall mood shifted from "snapshot" to "storytelling."
This is more than just a picture—it’s a memory. And I want every image I deliver to feel like one. Editing is where the emotion, mood, and visual polish all come together. It’s not about changing reality—it’s about enhancing what’s already there so it feels timeless and true to the moment.
Every photo that leaves my hands is carefully and intentionally edited with that in mind.
