Every November, right before the true holiday whirlwind hits, I take a moment to go back through all my emails, texts, and messages. I double-check everything — because this time of year gets busy, and I always want to make sure nothing slips through the cracks.

And this week, when I did my usual sweep, I noticed something…

There were ten people who reached out about a fall or Christmas session — and never booked.

And listen… I get it.

Maybe finances felt tight.
Maybe your schedule wouldn’t budge.
Maybe the kids were overwhelmed.
Maybe life piled up and you had to choose rest.
Maybe you booked with someone else or just took photos yourself.
Maybe life simply… life’d.

But if you were one of those families — or even if you never reached out but still feel that little sting of “Ugh, I didn’t get photos done this year” — hear me clearly:

It is OK.

Photos do not define you.
They do not measure your worth as a parent.
They do not confirm how loved your kids are or how strong your family is.

You didn’t fail because you didn’t schedule photos this year.
You didn’t miss out on something “everyone else” is doing.
You didn’t let anyone down.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is choose:

Rest.
Your budget.
A break from rushing.
A slow weekend at home instead of squeezing in “one more thing.”

And here’s the truth we so often forget:

Your kids won’t look back and remember whether you had updated photos every single year…
They’ll remember how their home felt.

Warm.
Safe.
Loved.
Silly.
Comfortable.
Theirs.

So if photos didn’t happen this year, breathe. Truly.
There is always next year. And I’ll be right here for you when the timing feels right.
