One of the questions I ask business owners all the time is:
"How are you showing up in your business?"
What I really mean is this:
How are people getting to know you?
We've all heard the saying, "People buy from people they know, like, and trust." But are we actually living that out in our businesses?
Because the truth is, most people aren't handing over their money to someone they know nothing about. They want to know who you are. They want to know what your business stands for. They want to feel connected to the person behind the service or product they're considering.
And that connection doesn't happen if we never show up.
For years, I shared my photography, but I didn't really share myself.
I posted beautiful images, but I rarely showed my face, shared my thoughts, or told my story.
Part of that was survival. Life was busy. Business was busy. Social media felt easier back then.
Today, things feel different.
There is more noise, more content, and more pressure.
But one thing hasn't changed:
People still connect with people.
At some point, I realized that if I wanted people to know, like, and trust me, I had to stop hiding behind my work and start showing up as myself.
You don't have to post every day, but people can't remember a business they never see.
Whether it's social media, email marketing, networking, or blogging, find a way to show up consistently.
Trust is built when you follow through.
Answer the email. Solve the problem. Deliver what you promised.
Sometimes showing up isn't glamorous—it's simply doing the right thing, especially when things don't go as planned.
People are busy.
Life gets busy.
Following up isn't being pushy. It's showing people that you care and that you're interested in helping them.
I show up through social media, email newsletters, my website, blogging, networking groups, and my podcast.
Not because every platform is perfect, but because people need multiple opportunities to discover and remember your business.
Your business deserves to take up space.
Showing up often means doing things before you feel ready.
Post the video.
Send the email.
Start the podcast.
Walk into the networking meeting.
Confidence rarely comes first.
More often than not, confidence comes from showing up over and over again.
I truly believe that when we refuse to show up in our businesses, we're doing a disservice to the people who need us.
Someone needs your service.
Someone needs your expertise.
Someone needs your story.
Someone needs your business.
And if they never see you, they'll never know you're there.
As a branding photographer, I see this all the time.
Many business owners tell me they're uncomfortable being in front of the camera. I understand completely.
But branding photography isn't really about having beautiful photos.
It's about helping people connect with the person behind the business.
When potential clients can see your face, your personality, and the way you serve others, trust begins to grow.
And trust is what turns followers into clients.
Maybe that's what this entire series has been about.
Showing up for yourself.
Showing up for your kids.
Showing up for your relationships.
Showing up for your business.
Because none of these things are separate.
When we take care of ourselves, we create the ability to show up everywhere else.
And showing up isn't about perfection.
It's about deciding, over and over again:
This matters enough that I am willing to keep coming back.
Someone needs your story.
Someone needs your business.
Someone needs you.
So keep showing up.
Messy.
Human.
Growing.
Learning.
Just keep showing up.
