There’s something special about building your life and career in the place you’ve always called home. I’ve lived and worked in the Piedmont Triad my entire life, and I truly believe it’s one of the most vibrant, warm, and welcoming places to live in North Carolina. As a real estate agent, I get the incredible opportunity to help people buy and sell homes right here in the Triad—and one of my favorite parts of the job is introducing clients to the local spots that make our community so unique.
I’m thrilled to be guest blogging today for my amazing photographer Megan, who has captured my real estate world so beautifully through her lens. Megan’s work brings so much life to my business, and I’m grateful to collaborate with another local creative who loves this region as much as I do.
Outside of real estate, I have a deep love for supporting local businesses—especially those in the culinary world. That passion has only grown stronger thanks to my son, who is involved in the culinary arts. Together, we’ve made it a mission to explore the incredible food scene around the Triad, from charming coffee trucks to flavorful global cuisine. So today, I’m excited to take you on a little food tour of some of our favorite local spots—perfect for anyone looking to fall in love with this area or rediscover their own backyard.
I couldn’t choose just one brunch spot—so I didn’t!
If you're in the mood for something a little upscale with a downtown vibe, head into Winston-Salem’s Young Cardinal. Their hashbrown bowls are hearty and flavorful, and the avocado toast? Next level. Pro tip: Add the crab topping—you won’t regret it.
Prefer a cozy, no-fuss breakfast with southern charm? Frank’s Kitchen in Rural Hall is a hidden gem tucked in a strip mall. Order the breakfast special with the biscuit and gravy for that classic, soul-warming start to your day.
My days are often a whirlwind of showings and meetings, so I rely on quick bites that still pack a punch.
For a fast, satisfying stop, Hot Dog City in Winston-Salem is my go-to for the best fried okra around. It’s take-out only, which makes it perfect for those of us hustling between appointments.
But when I do have time to sit down and enjoy lunch, I love Cilantro and Taco. The food is full of bold, authentic flavors—and you must try the horchata. It’s hands-down the best in the area.
Another favorite lunch spot of mine and Spencer’s is O’Brien’s Deli. They have a fantastic Reuben, and if you’re looking for a lighter option, the Rachel is just as delicious. It's one of those cozy spots that never disappoints.
Spencer and I also share a serious love for sushi, and our go-to spot is Sushi Republic in Greensboro. If you go, you have to try the Red Dragon and Kamikaze rolls—absolutely packed with flavor. And don’t skip the Fuji Apple Sake; it’s the perfect pairing to elevate your sushi experience.
When my son and I are looking for a flavorful dinner to wind down after a long day, we head to Curry and Noodle. The dishes are always bursting with spices, herbs, and heat—the kind that leaves you talking about the meal for days. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff is always kind, and the naan is a must-order every time.
For dessert, especially during the warmer months, Twin City Treats is a delightful stop. They offer themed ice cream creations that tap into pop culture faves like Star Wars and Harry Potter—perfect for families or anyone young at heart. It's a fun, seasonal tradition that brings a little magic to our neighborhood.
This is just a taste (pun intended) of what makes the Piedmont Triad such a special place to live, work, and explore. Whether you’re looking for your next home or your next favorite coffee spot, I’m here to help you find it.
